The Gift of Golf
It’s hard to believe the holidays are
here and we have the task of finding
our golf crazed loved ones a suitable
gift. I have said this before when
asked by our readers and advertisers
and it still holds true every year: The
best gift is always the gift of golf and
travel, and especially with you…………
if indeed you are fun to be on a vacation
with, that is. Almost all the resorts and
courses sell gift certificates for the holidays,
add it to a resort and spa package
and you have the most of memorable
family get together ever. Always keeping
in mind how some of your family
members look in a robe when suggesting
the spa experience. This could also
make for years of memories and uncontrollable
laughter when video taped
and played at gatherings in the future.
I‘ve seen some very nicely presented
gift certificate ideas when you throw
in a yardage book or a logoed sleeve of
balls or tee towel at the course or resort
you are buying from. Thinking a little
more unique you could also get golf and beach weekend for the Near
Years Eve celebration, it would be my favorite way to ring in a new year,
with the people I love, all two hundred of them.
While attending the annual Florida Hospital Coastal Gala, I took advantage of an invite for a golf weekend date and stayed at The Shores
Resort and Spa on Daytona

Beach, which are not the typical DaytonaBeach accommodations. This is a Four Star facility with the only AAA
four diamond dining experience on Daytona Beach. All this is very evident when you roll up and enter the well-appointed lobby with a cozyfireplace and friendly greetings by the seemingly happy-to-be-there
staff. There were some very tropical inspired weddings being held while
I was there and I had a bird’s eye view from my spacious private balcony complete with Jacuzzi tub and two-person cabana lounge chaise off the gorgeous suite I stayed in. The lounge is swanky and reeks of cool. Just outside the lounge are these very comfy over stuffed sofas that have a spectacular view of the pool area, the ocean and their ever-popular fire pit. By the way when sitting out by the fire at night yucking it up with the other guest you can enjoy the ever so sweet childhood treat Smores seaside at The Shores, say that fast three times. Go to
ww.shoresresortholidays. com and book a fab New Year’s Eve you will always remember.
I may see you there.
I am thankful for our staff, our readers, and the
advertising supporters!
