WHAT COULD BE FINA'?
Nothing absolutely
nothin’ HUH. OK,
that’s a different
tune all together, but
really, nothing could be
finer than the mountains
of NC in July, especially
when you are
playing on the spectacular
new redesign by Kris
W. Spence on Lake Toxaway.
The 25 year veteran
head pro Lou Biago
was credited by Spence
as instrumental with
his input on the overall
playability and flavor of
this masterpiece. When
invited to attend one of
these grand re-openings
the main thought that
comes to mind is ……
OMG what do I wear?
For me it’s anything that
goes with my new Sandbagger
golf shoes, I bloody love these shoes!!!!! Hopefully you readers are
keeping up with us and know Lake Toxaway is North Carolinas largest private
lake and now home to world-class golf, they were on the cover of July.
If you missed that issue you can always go to our website www.floridagolfcentral.
com and look in archives to learn more about this unbelievable
property.
The drive there is a nice 9 to 10 hours if you drive straight through, but
that’s not how I roll. I made a little detour to Edisto Beach, SC and discovered
a cool little spot you will read about in future issues, and yes Fred Seely
that was I you spotted, at The Plantation Course.
After a beautiful curvy little hike up the flower-lined mountain, taking
in the majestic views (listening to some Robin Thicke, and old school funk
CD’s) I arrived in a great mood. Pulled up to this amazingly well groomed
country club parking lot where I met the very attractive and charming Alan
Hunter from Golf America TV (www.tvgolfshow.com) based in Wilmington.
The two of us had time to get in 9 as the sun was setting over the sensational
Lake Toxaway Resort. After playing with Alan we both realized that
Golf Central, as you know, has been promoting the Carolinas for years and
we have a unique synergy to work as allies to help our many clients on the
eastern seaboard, that’s how things happen.
While the other journalists were checking in to The Historical Greystone
Inn and their four diamond accommodations, some of us made dinner
plans at the Inn’s Lakeside dining room. I was pleasantly surprised to see
our old friend Tom Horan and his co-host Chris Cates were part of the media
posse joining us.
Tom left Central Florida years ago capitalizing on his fun lovin’ broadcasting
skills as the host of Speaking of Golf (www.speakingofgolf.com)
aired in Western NC. His very talented co-host Cates entertained us all on
the Champagne Cruise with his musical styling of golf parodies. We will
keep you posted as our ideas culminate on how we intend to keep our readers
and clients informed and exposed on what goes on in his new arena.
After seeing old friends and making new ones my trip to the Blue Ridge
Mountains, was both business productive, heart warming
