Let me entertain you,” is one of the famous lines from Gypsy Rose
Lee, burlesque dancer. Golf, as a business and a game, is an amazing
means of entertainment. Hopefully, the last ten years have
been as fun for our readers, advertisers, supporters, as they have for
us. Gypsy goes on to say, “Let me make you smile.” The best times for
me have been making people smile. I sincerely enjoy making golf fun
for newbies and trying to help even the more serious playas’ “have a
real good time, yes sir!”
The lifestyle that a magazine publisher leads is pretty awesome
even if you’re not “THE Best”. I’m not anywhere near the best, but
we’ve been told that we’re one of the better regional publications in
the country. We’ve used some old and some new tricks.
What I take away from this personally are my experiences and
relationships along with the unbelievable amount of joy coming from
sharing, growing, learning and experiencing the people who make
this game so attractive.
I always say, if I died tomorrow I’ve had the good fortunate of
hangin’ with Arnold Palmer, one of the highlights of my life. I know
Nick Faldo thinks I have a mad crush on him, based on my giddy
uncontrolled flirting at the Father/Son Challenge pairings party, but
my heart beats for The King…sorry Mr. Faldo.
We are truly lucky to live in a country where we have the right to
choose what we read, watch, listen to, and publish. Thanks to all the
people who have come into my life to assist with FGCM, to provide
guidance, support, and aid emotionally or spiritually, through
difficulty and debauchery. An extra special energy goes out to Lynn
Pelham on the other side, who forced my naive, little brain to get a
decent start.
Thanks to all of you who have been entertained by our style for the
last ten years.
