VISIT FLORIDA Names Florida’s First
Coast of Golf as Flagler Award
Finalist
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FL– Florida’s First Coast
of Golf, a not for profit corporation responsible for
marketing Northeast Florida as a golf vacation destination,
has been named a finalist in this year’s
VISIT FLORIDA Flagler Awards competition.
Sponsored by VISIT FLORIDA and the Florida
Commission on Tourism, the Flagler Awards program
acknowledges the outstanding marketing
achievements of the state’s tourism-related businesses,
destinations, attractions, and other entities.
Tourism marketing experts from across the United
States judge the more than 200 entries in 15 categories.
“It’s very gratifying to have your efforts recognized
by your peers,” explained David Reese, President,
Florida’s First Coast of Golf. “I am very grateful
for the hard work that our team put in to develop
successful programs that are producing fantastic
business results.”
Florida’s First Coast of Golf members include
resorts, hotels, golf courses, convention & visitors
bureaus and attractions from Amelia Island, Jacksonville,
Clay County, St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra
Beach, and Flagler County.

Royal Island, Bahamas to Feature
First Jack Nicklaus Golf Club
(Dallas, TX)– Cypress Equities, The Staubach Company,
and Behringer Harvard, the developers of
Royal Island, Bahamas, announced today they will
team up with Jack Nicklaus and Nicklaus Design
for the first ever Jack Nicklaus Golf Club, appropriately
named The Jack Nicklaus Golf Club of the
Bahamas.
The Jack Nicklaus Golf Club was created as an
exclusive access and reciprocity program for only
25 elite Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses located
in ideal markets around the world. Royal Island
is the first participating club worldwide selected by
Jack Nicklaus and given this special designation. The entire eastern portion of Royal Island will be
solely devoted to the golf experience and will include
the clubhouse, |
golf course and Nicklaus Home.
Additionally, The Club offers Founder Members reciprocity
at other Jack Nicklaus Golf Clubs, as well
as access to the Nicklaus Home established at each
property for use by Jack Nicklaus, his family and
other JNGC Founder Members worldwide.
Initial clearing for the 18-hole Signature Course
and Golf Club began in mid-April. Since then, 13
holes have been cleared for the development and
construction of the course. Jack Nicklaus has made
two visits to Royal Island to work on the design.
In addition to the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club, Royal
Island will include a deep-water marina with 200+
slips surrounded by a village with shops, cafes, customs
and immigration office, emergency services
and a captains’ club.
Major construction on the golf course will begin
in the first quarter of 2008, with completion by fourth
quarter, 2009
