EWGA Orlando Announces Support of UCF Women’s Golf Program
Organizations Team Up to Build Support for
Women’s Golf in Central Florida.
Orlando, Fla., – The Executive Women’s Golf
Association’s Orlando Chapter (EWGA Orlando)
has extended its support to the UCF women’s golf
program through ongoing participation in and
sponsorship of the Knights.
“The synergies between our two organizations
make this a particularly strong alliance,” says Linda
DeBartolo, president of EWGA Orlando. “EWGA
Orlando benefits from access to a diverse and accomplished
new member base along with member
coaching opportunities and UCF team members
receive networking and professional mentoring
opportunities. Our board saw this as a strong winwin
alliance.”
Emilee Klein, head coach of the UCF women’s
golf team, knows what it takes to build a first-class
golfing program. Three years after taking the helm,
she has created a highly competitive group of women
golfers, some of whom are preparing to enter
“Q School,” the proving ground for entry onto the
LPGA tour. UCF qualified for the NCAA Regionals
this past May. An LPGA-major winner in her own
right, one of the focuses of Klein’s program is to
build grass roots community support for the UCF
women’s golf team.
“The partnership that EWGA Orlando has extended
to us is very important in a number of ways,”
Klein says. “It provides financial support of our
program in addition to creating an outlet for these
young women to actively participate in local golfing
organizations and hone their skills through event
participation. And more importantly, for those
students who won’t be pursuing a professional golf
career, it provides access to a network of professional
women to help them pursue their career goals
after college.”
To further enhance the bridge between young
women entering the workforce and its core
membership, EWGA has recently announced the
creation of a new student member level. Offering
the same benefits as a classic membership, it’s
offered to students at a reduced cost.
