20th Marriott Golf Property Becomes Audubon Certified As Part Of Company’s Recent Mandate Program

ORLANDO, Fla. –Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators, today announced that Hawk’s Landing Golf Club at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort, in Orlando, Fla., is the latest property to achieve certification through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. This marks the 20th Marriott Golf managed property to achieve Audubon Certification, as part of the Company’s recent mandate program, which ensures that 25 managed golf properties in North America and the Caribbean become Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries.

TALLENT AND DECKER WIN NATIONAL
SENIOR-JUNIOR TOURNAMENT AT THE DYE

JUPITER, Fla.– Golfers Pat Tallent and Keith Decker paired up to win the 19th annual National Senior-Junior Team Championship at The Dye Preserve Golf Club in Jupiter. They shot 68-61-66- -195 to earn a three-stroke victory over defending tournament champions, Vinny Giles and Trip Kuehne. Decker previously won the event in 2006 with partner, Stan Fischer.

This year’s three-day, 54-hole tournament, held Jan. 5 through 7, paired 46 players from the Society of Seniors (55 and over) with leading amateur golfers under 55. The format was Best Ball on Monday, Pinehurst-style on Tuesday and Scramble on Wednesday.

PGA FOUNDATION PROVIDES 20 UNIVERSITIES WITH GRANTS

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The PGA Foundation has provided 20 accredited PGA Golf Management Universities with grants totaling $60,000. The accredited PGA Golf Management Universities have used these grants to select and distribute scholarships to 59 female and minority students.

Since the program’s inception in 1993, PGA Golf Management Universities have distributed a total of $501,000 in scholarships.
