list of accolades. The Preferred Golf package starts

5 by Golf Digest’s Places to Play rankings. Copperhead
was also just recognized as the #1 Rated Resort

ranking of Top 100 Resort Courses in America. It is
rare to find two courses of this stature at one resort
setting.

round of golf on your day of arrival or departure (so
for a three night stay, that’s four rounds of golf at the

| AHSF Tackles Renovations in Oslo,
Dallas and Naples |
NAPLES, Fla. — Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest and Associates
continues to rank among the busiest and
most cosmopolitan course designers in the business,
adding three refurbishment projects — in
Oslo, Norway, Dallas, Texas, and Naples (Florida!)
— to its portfolio of 130 renovations worldwide.
Some 5500 miles southwest of the Norwegian
capital, AHSF partner Chris Wilczynski will break
ground this April on a $6 million renovation of Forest
Glen Country Club, a golf/real estate community
here in Naples. This project would technically be
termed a renovation, as the routing will remain virtually
unchanged, but everything else — every green,
tee, bunker and fairway, every blade of grass — has
been reimagined and will be rebuilt accordingly.
Few places in the golf world have more respect
and faith in the design approach of Hills/Forrest than
Naples, where AHSF has designed more than 20 separate
layouts, including Fiddler’s Creek and Bonita
Bay, both ranked in 2007 among the nation’s top 40
real estate courses by Golf Connoisseur magazine.
Wilczynski, whose most recent design — the Wolfdancer
Course at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines
near Austin, Texas — was named among GOLF
Magazine’s “Top 10 New Courses You Can Play”
for 2006, is eager to work the same magic at Forest
Glen.
In early 2008, Wilczynski and the AHSF team will
also initiate a comprehensive master plan program
at Columbian Country Club of Dallas, where extensive
course improvements mirror the membership’s
desire for club-wide change. Indeed, the club has
already changed its name to Honors Golf Club Dallas.
In the Norwegian capital, ground was broken
this fall on a major renovation of Oslo Golfklubb, the
country’s oldest, most prestigious course and home
club to LPGA star Suzanne Petterson. Hills/Forrest
partner Steve Forrest is directing the $10 million project,
alongside Oslo GK superintendent John Riiber.
The course will reopen for play in July 2008.
Hills/Steve Forest and Associates (AHSF) is based
in Toledo, Ohio, in the heart of the American
Midwest. But it has authored nearly 200 original
course designs on three continents, to go with its
impressive renovation portfolio.
Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest & Associates is one of
golf’s most prolific and respected course architects,
with more than 40 renovation and original design
projects underway in Mexico, Canada, the United
States and Europe.

The Glenlivet® City Links |
 |
ORLANDO, FL– This January, seasoned golfers and
amateurs alike will have an inimitable opportunity
to improve their game, as The Glenlivet brings the
experience of a traditional Scottish golf course to
the heart of the Orlando shopping district. Located
in stylish Pointe Orlando, The Glenlivet City Links,
complete with nine challenging holes, a |
virtual driving
range and chipping area, will be housed in the
former Metropolis space for two weeks before continuing
on its national tour. In addition to practicing
their swing, golfers can win a chance to attend an
extraordinary trip to St. Andrews or Pinehurst, two
of the world’s best-known courses.
“Scotland is known for two world-famous exports.
Golf, undoubtedly one of the most celebrated
games in the world, and The Glenlivet, the most remarkable
Scotch whisky out there,” says Ron Zussman,
Brand Director of Glenlivet. “There’s no better
way to practice your game during a lunch break
than by heading to the nearest course – and we’re
thrilled to bring The Glenlivet City Links to Orlando
for the first time.”
The Glenlivet City Links will be customized to fit
the various lofts and warehouses in each destination
it travels to. This impressive course is beautifully
landscaped with water hazards, sandtraps, bridges
and carefully crafted greens, providing golfers in urban
settings with an opportunity to golf on a piece
of Scotland, without getting on a plane The course
was designed by Arne Lundmark, president of one
of the premiere golf course design companies in the
country, and Thomas Shöner, renowned interior and
architectural designer.
This year, The Glenlivet is proud to partner with
the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CF Foundation), a
research and educational organization dedicated to
the development of treatment and a cure for cystic
fibrosis. There are no set green fees to play on The
Glenlivet City Links; instead, a ‘pay-as-you-will’ policy
has been implemented to benefit the CF Foundation.
Reservations are not necessary for participation
in the City Links; the course is played on a first-come
basis. |
