Scott Sterner
Where are you from?
The streets of Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania
(Home of Yuengling Beer). I’ve been here since 1996.
How old are you?
I’m 34. I was born on January 22, 1973 (Exact day
of Roe vs. Wade- PHEW!!!)
What do you do to make money?
I created The Orlando Forecaddie-
“Off the Grass” Radio Show on ESPN AM1080 Wednesday nights from
6 - 8 which is the anchor to my marketing efforts to promote the fine
courses that we have in Central Florida with businesses that understand
the value of reaching out to the attractive demographic which we, the
golf community made up. Plus, I own part of White Metal Golf which
invented the first ever cup cup (www.WhiteMetalGolf.com). Long story
but somewhat interesting. Also own part of MyCityGolfs.com- another
great venture which will help us enjoy the game we love for less.

Tell us about your ideal woman?
She has to wake up in the morning
happy and be willing to ride the roller coaster of life that comes with
being with an entrepreneur. Physically, I really like all types of women
which is why relationships are so challenging. So many women– so little
time. Fake nails and too much make-up are a deal-killer for me.
How often do you date?
To be honest– never. Don’t get me started on
that ritual. The first date is never a true representation of that person-it’s
a snapshot. I think the relationships that have the best shot of success
are the ones that happen by fate and without the burden of generic
expectations. Notice that I don’t have any match-making sponsors on
my radio show.
Tell everyone about your first kiss…
It was in 7th grade and it was
horrible. It was my turn and I tried to spin the bottle perfectly but as
luck would have it- it pointed directly at “Maggie”. I didn’t speak French
at that time but apparently– she did. Elle a joué à un jeu très moyen de
hockey d’amygdale. Needless to say, I focused on sports really hard the
next 4 years after that.
Who is the most beautiful person you know, inside and out?
It’s
a tie between… Luldes Frechette (www.GolfForGraham.com) and my
sister Stephanie. Luldes has given so much to so many people after
dealing with an unimaginable tragedy where she lost her son Graham
a few years ago and her and her husband Roger are like family to me
now. My sister has the perfect little family in the perfect little town
and always makes the right decisions. She gives my family the stability
they need to deal with my fly by the seat of my pants lifestyle. They are
both such great role models that even I can’t come up with the words to
describe them properly. The fact that both of these women are beautiful
is irrelevant but they deserve every good break they get– I just hope they
both get their golf games to the next level!
Tell us something about yourself that only your closest friends would know.
If I’m totally alone– I’m afraid of the dark. I did a thesis on UFO’s at Penn
State and ever since then I think I’m a prime candidate for abduction.
That’s why when my housemates are out of town– I’ll lower my standards
drastically to ensure I have company.
What three things would you need to survive on a
deserted island?
An internet café, a 9-hole golf course with a courteous staff like those at
great places like Grand Cypress, Celebration, Orange County National,
MetroWest, Highlands Reserve, Timacuan, Stoneybrooks, Disney, Eagle
Creek, etc. (did I cover all of my clients?) and a film crew. I know the staff
will bring everything else we need to have a good time and by throwing
in the reality show aspect it would probably become a resort destination
in no time.
What do you find to be the most annoying habit people have?
I have too many stories to tell based on the fact that I never sell-out. The
one thing I tell everyone that knows me when asked to explain my overall
outlook on life is that you should always act like you’re in a movie. Does
the hero ever sell-out? No. The short-term gain of selling out is never
worth sitting around with the peeps you covered later on knowing that
you didn’t save your own hide by giving them up. My mom hates that
one but my dad understands it.
Of the three, would you choose love, happiness or money?
I can
honestly say that I’m one of those people who create happiness with
money. Money isn’t evil if you use it the right way. If you think money
can’t buy happiness– you’re naive. Give money to someone suffering
from any of the thousands of things that can happen to us in life and give
it to them with No Strings Attached out of the goodness of your heart and
without expecting something in return– you’ll fall asleep that night with
permagrin. There are people who do great things with their money- I
want to be known as one of those people. I just need the money- feel
free to send it to Florida Golf Central c/o Scott Sterner- Forecaddie/
Humanitarian.
Name three moviestars you would like to go on a date with.
Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears or Nicole Ritchie because I hate dating
and they would just be a wild night out and I know I’d end up in InTouch
or a popular Tabloid so I’d win a bet with Cousin Mike that we have
about who will be involved in a juicy Hollywood scandal first.
