Queens Gap in Rutherfordton NC
is owned by a prominent family
from Cincinnati and is set to become
one of the most highly sought after
addresses in the region. Here is a snapshot

With this bold vision, we wanted to look
at who sets out to build a club like this and
why?
Devin McCarthy is from Cincinnati Ohio
which is the headquarters to his previous
company, Franklynn Industries.
They have a 17 year history of
providing key supplies to some
of America’s greatest companies.
Franklynn was recently
purchased by ITW, a large corporate
conglomerate. In the transition
from the Chemical Industry
to Luxury Real Estate, McCarthy has assembled a team of professionals to
help build one of the top luxury communities
in the region. His team is anchored by
Jack Nicklaus who has been commissioned
to design 18 holes of Signature Golf. |

Devin McCarthy comments, “We set
aside 750 acres in a valley so that Jack could
use any portion of that land he sees fit. As
one of the greatest players and designers
the game has ever seen, I felt he was the
right person to help me reach my goal.”
Troon Golf was selected to join the team to
help chart the course for the membership
and club structure.McCarthy explains, “I
feel they are the perfect group to help me
balance all of the variables that go into a
club so we can take excellent care of the
members and continue to be financially
strong for generations to
come.” |
Also joining the team
will be Course Doctors of
Hendersonville, NC. This
company is entrusted
with the responsibility
of building the Jack
Nicklaus Signature Golf
Course. Course Doctors
is a highly regarded firm
with a number of courses
in the top echelon and is
one of only a handful of
firms approved to do construction
on the famed
Augusta National Golf Club.
The rest of the Devinshire team are
made up of award winning architects, a
PGA Veteran, experienced marketing personnel
and some of the regions’ best building
companies. The General Manager, Burt
Baine, comments, “I have had the pleasure
of working for some great organizations
like the PGA Tour, and I am extremely
pleased with the team members involved
and level of commitment that the McCarthy
family has created at Queens Gap.”

More probing into McCarthy’s back-ground uncovered interesting insight into
his business style. He was very candid and
said, “In my previous business, we supplied
products to the finest companies
in the world including Titleist, Boeing, and
General Motors to name a few. We distributed
specialty lubricants and release
agents through offices in nine countries on
three continents. I am well accustomed
to high standards and exceeding expectations.”
Our research to support Devin’s
claims showed that his company, Franklynn
Industries, was given a prestigious
vendor award by Titleist and other notable
contributions. Other research showed virtually
no debt on the
4,000 acres of land he
has acquired and a well
capitalized company.
McCarthy commented,
“We are quickly earning
a great reputation
in this area through the
placement of key team
members and from a well funded business
plan.
When asked why McCarthy chose thislocation he responded, “After I experienced
the beautiful views with easy access to the
quaint town of Rutherfordton, I envisioned
a 5 star resort/community being created
here. I shared that vision with my family
and moved forward to build one of the best
private resort communities in the country.”
