The Doctor is IN!

It was a record-breaking year for the Eighth Annual Doc Rivers Celebrity Golf Invitational! More than $165,000 was raised for Shepherd’s Hope, a faith-based, non-profit organization that provides free health care to low income, uninsured men, women and children through an all-volunteer medical staff.

A field of over 200 golfers, headed up by NBA Championship Coach, Doc Rivers, enjoyed a fabulous day at Ginn Reunion Resort on the Arnold Palmer Legacy and Tom Watson Independence Courses. Fun, food and games mixed in well with the shamble format, culminated by an awards luncheon and a few surprises. The highlight was the display of the NBA trophy, flown in, and then proudly displayed by Doc to the incredible flashing lights of hundreds of cameras.

On the evening before golf, hundreds of people gathered at Ginn Reunion for the exclusive pairings party, including more than 30 other celebrities. Among them were former NBA players Nick Anderson, Julius Erving, John Starks, Spud Webb and JoJo White; former NFL players Darrell Fullington, Hassan Jones and Kellen Winslow, Jr.; Orlando Magic player Pat Garrity and Denver Nuggets player Chucky Atkins.

Shepherd’s Hope operates nine evening health clinics in Central Florida and receives no state or federal funding, relying on philanthropy by caring individuals and corporations. Another fantastic event coming up on October 25 is the Famous Faces Masquerade Ball. For more information, contact 407-876-6699 x 5.
