Saving Lives Golf Charity
As a setting sun flickered over
the Ft. Lauderdale Country
Club on a warm spring day,
celebrities, corporate leaders, educators
and health and mental health
professionals knew they had accomplished
their mission. They teed off for
18-holes of golf during the 5th Annual
Fore the Kids: Saving Lives Golf Charity,
which raised tens of thousands
of dollars to improve the lives of
children. The event, organized by Dr.
Deborah Mulligan, an emergency room
pediatrician, and Nova Southeastern
University’s Institute for Child Health
Policy Director, is dedicated to raising
money for research, training and educating
the public about child and family
related issues in the community.
Like previous years, the 2009 charity
golf tournament was another success.
It boasted a field of talented golfers
who hit numerous birdies and pars
at the country club’s beautiful greens
in the name of children. In addition
to the golf tournament, fundraising
included the purchase of fabulous
raffle and silent auction prizes. Rocker
Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden acted as
an auctioneer. Not only has this event
dazzled the local community with
quality golf, but it has also consistently
raised generous amounts of money
to benefit the health of children. Mark
your calendars next year for the 6th
Annual Fore the Kids: Saving Lives
Celebrity Golf Charity on Friday May 7.
